Helpful Hints
Relevant Scriptures:
And he said to me, “Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat. Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. He then said to me: “Son of man, go now to the house of Israel and speak my words to them. (Ezekiel 3:1-4)
Then the king called together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. He went up to the temple of the LORD with the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets — all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the LORD. The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD — to follow the LORD and keep his commands, regulations and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book. Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.
(2 Kings 23:1-3)

Ideas:
For the Reader:
- Use the Microphone
- Be Lively - lift your head, lift your voice
- Look for emphasis opportunities in every section
- Try to find opportunities to involve the listeners - eg in spoken parts
- Don't read fast!
- Don't worry about difficult names. It doesn't matter if you mispronounce them. If you feel you want to read them more easily, read through your section before the meeting and rehearse them.
- Don't read for too long at a stretch. It is evidently quite tiring. From observing the Launch meeting, I think maybe 15 to 20 minutes is long enough before you swop to a partner.
- Reckon on about twelve to fourteen chapters an hour.
For the Listener:
- Stay ENGAGED
- Bring your Bible
- Ask God to highlight one subject in every section
- Underline relevant words
- Note what you have covered - Collect passages!
- Be ready to join in, and be ready to take the lead if asked!
- When you get to lists of names, don't be put off. These are the evidence that the Bible is a Historical Book. If it were a made-up novel, they wouldn't be there. Remember, as you get used to the names, you'll be better able to understand what happened to who and where.
