New Year 2006
It was no mistake that our good friend Martin Scott was our first visiting speaker for the New Year. Martin came with a strong prophetic word for the year emphasising that God was taking His finger off the pause button and we were coming into a different season with opportunities to move forward. It was interesting that two months later time physically moved as the communication masts came down in Rugby and the National Time Signal moved to Cumbria. The BBC news announced that “Time Change Marking An End Of An Era”
Doing a New Thing
Two years ago a young man from Leeds prophesied that God would move in a new way in Rugby and as a sign of this, roads would be dug up and traffic would move around the town in a different way SO R-HoP welcomes the “Relief Road”!
Prophetic Training
In June we ran our first training course with our friends from Burton. People from all over the Midlands attended and we had great fun learning to move in prophetic gifting.
24 Hours of Prayer
On 7.7.07 we began 24hours of prayer and non stop worship. As we worshipped we prayed for the town and the nation. Many thanks to all those who took part.
Our 4th Birthday!
After a short break in the summer we started meeting again in September. It is incredible to think that R-HoP has been going for four years.
Bethel, Redding, California
In October Banning Liebscher and a Youth Team from Bill Johnson’s Church in Redding California came to speak. Banning encouraged us to dream with God and expect the impossible. It was a memorable evening as the Redding Youth Team prayed for people to be healed.
Other Speakers
A week after the Redding team visit Dr. Sharon Stone came and talked about the coming year 2008, and to expect God to work in many different ways.
We were also thrilled to have contact with the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, as a result of this Pamela Stead, from IHOP, came to visit us. It is always interesting to get an “outsider’s” perspective on our Nation and Pamela gave us lots of food for prayer.
Sally Ann Dyer came and spoke specifically about England and how we need to cry out to God for mercy on this land.
Our partners in prayer, Jenny and Steve Watson, from Burton also came to speak and encouraged us to keep praying.
Answers to Prayer
The Church
At R-HoP we pray constantly for the Church in the nation and in our town. God tells us to “Arise and Shine” (Isaiah 60:1) so we pray that His Bride will shine for Him especially in the community. We also pray that the Church will work in unity and move out on to the streets.
It was therefore exciting for us to be part of Revive’s (Churches in the Town working together) Community Action week this September and hear many stories of how people were impacted.
We also pray for Hope4 (homeless project) and Refresh. Refresh is a group of people from different churches in the town reaching out to those coming out of the pubs and clubs on a Friday night and Saturday morning. Here’s a comment from one of the group.
“Thank you for praying for us at R-Hop last Tuesday. We had an awesome night last night. We had a double portion of customers and our donations were also double the normal average...In addition, we were going to be low on volunteers but two more joined us unexpectedly, making a full team and enabling us to function well. One of the volunteers brought a shed-load of donated sandwiches from a local school, which were much appreciated on the street. People made visits into the church to pray including one Sikh man. I don't think we have ever had a better evening and I do think we have received a multiplication from the Lord. Praise Him.”
Schools & Youth
We pray fervently for the youth and children and earlier in 2007 Rugby Youth for Christ spent a month coming into R-HoP helping us to pray for particular issues in our town. We have since seen more opportunities opening up for the gospel to be brought into our schools, over 100 young people attending Soul Survivor this summer and RYFC is busier than ever!
The Town
We always pray that people in Rugby would be open to hearing the Gospel and we continue to hear stories of healings and people responding to the Good News of Jesus
We have seen some “spiritually unhealthy” shops go and we thank God for this. We continue to pray that the lap dancing club will close and for the town to be a safe and good place to come to.
In everything we do we give God all the Glory. He is indeed good to all who walk His ways!
